South Seas Island Resort Intimate Wedding | Captiva Elopement

Captiva, Florida

An intimate small wedding at South Seas Island Resort

South Seas Island Resort is in the heart of Captiva, Florida. Such a dreamy, romantic destination. The beach is crystal clear, and the rocks over-looking the water, I mean it can’t get better than that for a beach wedding! South Seas Island Resort is one of my favorite wedding venues in Captiva Florida, for its privacy, location, and overall beauty. There are endless amount of spots to take wedding photos, from the dock over looking the ocean, to the beach at sunset!

From the bride…

Why they chose South Seas Island Resort as their wedding venue…

Originally, I found one of your blogs online of an elopement you photographed at South Seas Island Resort, I loved everything I saw so I wanted to visit South Seas in person, it had been many years since I was last there. As we grew up in the area, Sanibel/Captiva was like my second home, we always went to the beaches there since I was a little girl, I even worked on Sanibel for a few years and my mom does work out there (for 15+ years). After Peter and I visited the property, we were sold - it was gorgeous, had a perfect beach/golf course ceremony spot for us, we loved all the amenities and the location, Andy Rosse lane is nearby with more restaurants to walk/drive to, and a bonus was since almost all of our immediate family lives in Cape Coral/Fort Myers it was an easier trip for them to make for the weekend. Everything just worked out the way it was meant to be :)

They're three favorite things about South Seas…

1. My favorite place is the beach and Peter's favorite everything is golf. So the spot where we got married at South Seas, called Sunset Pointe, was set on the beach with their golf course immediately next to it. It was the perfect spot for both of us and we loved everything about it, it felt so peaceful and private out there, it really was so perfect. 2. We invited our family and friends to stay with us for the weekend to celebrate, and it was the perfect resort for a big celebration like that. So many different pools, beaches and restaurants on the huge property that made gatherings so easy and fun! 3. The whole resort was so gorgeous, with stunning views almost everywhere you looked! The bridal suite was a beautiful spot, too, overlooking the bay with big windows for lots of natural light!

The Jordan and Peter love story…

Peter and I met through his two younger brothers, I was friends with them for over 5 years before they introduced me to Peter over Thanksgiving in 2013. We're all from the same hometown, Cape Coral/Fort Myers, and at the time he was visiting from Orlando and I had lived in Cape Coral (just for a couple years after graduating from UCF in Orlando). After meeting, we fell for each other quickly and kept in touch, then almost immediately started dating. We did the long distance thing for almost 9 months, spending every day on the phone for hours and then visiting one another a couple weekends each month. We said 'I love you' after 6 months while we were at one of his friends wedding, and then I moved back to Orlando and in with Peter after 9 months. We knew we'd eventually get married but didn't feel the rush as many couples do, we really wanted to enjoy time as a couple which we happily did and still do :) In October 2018, Peter and I were in Bonita Springs for one of my best friend's wedding and it was a long weekend so we decided to make a little vacation out of it. Little did I know, he had orchestrated for all of our family member's to come out to the resort where we were staying and hide in the bushes near where he was going to propose so they could watch... that morning we had plans to go to brunch so we we're walking to the resort restaurant and he steered us over to this cute little gazebo that was over a pond saying that we should take a selfie because we always say we should take more pictures together, I was a little concerned we were going to be late to brunch (I was hungry haha) but I said okay, walked over there with him, set my purse down on a bench and turned around to find Peter on one knee with a ring box in his hands. I was genuinely so surprised and pretty much immediately went into happy/ugly cry mode haha... He said the sweetest most thoughtful things to me in his proposal and I said YES of course! Then he told me to look behind me, where I saw a photographer (one of his friends) and my response was, Oh my gosh you got a photographer!!, he laughed and pointed beyond her, to where all of our family members were walking towards us with the biggest smiles on their faces. I bawled even harder, I couldn't believe how sweet it was they were all there and that Peter had planned this whole thing without me knowing! It was the best day and I'm so thankful to have such an amazing, thoughtful man as Peter is!
